Homework

June 3

This coming Thursday your anti-gambling brochure is due. It is also the tentative due date for your PSA. Keep at it, 7A. It'll be the end of the year before you know it!

-Mr. C

May 30

For the weekend, you'll be working on your probability assignment.

You're creating a brochure that outlines the dangers of gambling. Use what you've learned throughout the unit to support your answers. This assignment will be due next Thursday, June 5.

On Tuesday, we'll also be having a small quiz in health on Substance Use and Abuse.

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. Enjoy your weekend

May 28

Continue working on your health presentation -- it'll be this Friday! Review pages 236-237, questions 1-4. You'll be having your math test on Friday as well.

-Mr. Charalambous

May 26

No homework tonight. Enjoy the beautiful day!

-Mr. C

May 23

For the weekend, be sure to complete your math homework from your workbook on experimental probability (pages 229-231). We'll be having our test next Wednesday! Also have a look on the homepage for other updates.

-Mr. Charalambous

May 21

Keep an eye out for PSAs that deal with tobacco, alcohol or drug abuse aimed towards teens and pre-teens. We'll be discussing these further in depth tomorrow.

-Mr. C

May 20

Heads or Tails Deluxe:

a)   Is this game fair?  Explain why, or explain how you could make it fair.
b)   Suppose you didn’t have to flip the coins randomly and each player could choose the side of the coin they wanted to play.  Would this change the outcome of the game?
c)   Consider the scenario in b.  How would you play if you were Player A?  How would you play if you were Player B?

Rolling Dice Deluxe:

a)    Which number did you bet on most often?  Explain why.
b)    How do we make decisions to do acts such as betting?
c)    Is this game fair?  Explain why, or explain how we could make it fair

- Mr. Charalambous

May 16

Geography Questions:

1. What is in the waste basket right now? What natural resources were used to make these items?

2. Classify these resources as either renewable or non renewable resources. Which could've been recycled or reused?

3. How could practices be changed to reduce both the amount and the types of materials on the waste basket?

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. The trash we found was:
  • a late slip
  • a candy wrapper
  • some orange peels
  • brown paper towel
  • a plastic bag
  • tape
  • and gum
May 14

Complete the math question from the board tonight!

-Mr. C

May 13

For math tonight, please finish questions 1-5 on the worksheet I gave you. We'll be moving on to experimental probability.

Also, ensure that you've completed the media sheet on alcohol and advertising in the media (ad analysis).

-Mr. C

May 12

Mr. C is trapped in a castle. In order to escape his captors, he must travel through three tunnels. There are several doors to each tunnel and only one route (3, C and Δ) leads to the exit. What are Mr. C's chances of escape?

Tunnel 1: 1, 2, 3
Tunnel 2: A, B, C
Tunnel 3: Γ, Δ, Θ

In language, please complete the deconstruction of that advertisement. You can do it on VT.

-Mr. C

May 7

For homework tonight you have one math question to try out:

I have a colour wheel with three colours: black, red and green. If I were to spin it twice, what are different types of combinations? What likelihood do I have of theoretically landing on green twice? Hint: think of today's lesson.

Don't forget to practice your monologues!

-Mr. Charalambous

May 6

Tomorrow we're presenting our monologues. The success criteria is on DB if you need to double check it. Make sure that you're prepared.

-Mr. C

May 5

Tomorrow your alternate ending is due. Please print off a copy to hand in to me. Criteria and samples are on the blog and in our class!

Practise your monologues as we will begin presenting likely this Wednesday.

And don't forget to bring your BORC forms back, signed on both sides!

-Mr. Charalamabous

May 2

For the weekend, star working on your write up for your monologues. You're choosing a key character from any of the short stories we read. You really need to get to know them -- what motivates them, what's their story? Understanding your character will help you draft a better script with your group.

Also, we'll set Tuesday as the due date for your alternate ending. Remember to listen the feedback you've been given on VT and apply it.

Monday we're starting "Probability" in math.

-Mr. C

P.S. For geography I have one question for you: What are the pros and cons of "Flow Resources"?

May 1

We'll be writing our geometry test tomorrow! Also keep an eye out for VT feedback.

-Mr. Charalambous

April 30

Thank you for the great work today, 7A.

For homework tonight, I'd like you to complete the following:

1. plot points -- A (-10, -6), B (-8, -7), C (-5, -7), D (-8, -10)
2. reflect on Y axis
3. rotate clockwise off coordinate "A," 45 degrees
4. translate eight units left and two down

Tonight, I also want to see that your writing has been posted to VT for feedback.

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. Don't forget to select a monologue for practise. We'll present some of them tomorrow!

April 29

Don't forget your math assignment is due tomorrow as are the two questions from geography (see April 25).

Your writing excerpt is also due on VT by Wednesday night. I have to stress it again -- I'm looking to see that your writing has improved; it's strictly for feedback.

-Mr. Charalambous

April 28

We have a number of things on the run:

In language, I'd like you to select one of the Harris Burdick paintings from DB and write an original ending to it. It's strictly for feedback. Post it to VT by Wednesday. I've added a sample of the work you've created in class as an exemplar to follow. The criteria is also your own.

Your math assignment is due on Wednesday as well. Please don't forget the criteria for it. If you're missing a copy, please see me as I have a number of extras. A reminder: you need to have a rough draft, a good copy and a "recipe" that I can follow as to how you created your tessellation.

Finally, don't forget that your geography questions are also due on Wednesday! (phew!)

Wednesday is a busy day!

Try and enjoy your afternoon!

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. Don't forget your yearbook money!

April 25

Geography:

1. You've been hired as Minister of Fisheries. How would you have dealt with the situation in the 90s knowing that your decision has an effect on the environment, jobs, economy and the community?

2. More and more people are starting to "farm" fish but people who oppose this say it is unnatural because of the artificial food and living conditions. Though it does help restore jobs back to the community. What side of the debate are you on?

Math: Continue working on your tessellations

-Mr. C

P.S. Enjoy your weekend!

April 23

Math: Start working on your assignment. The due date has been set for Monday. Keep in mind that even a simple pattern can cover all the criteria that's been laid out in the assignment.

-Mr. C

April 22

For homework tonight rotate the following triangle with coordinates:

A (-7, +5)
B (-4, +4)
C (-6, +1)

The turning point will be coordinate C (I know I originally said 0,0 but I changed it!)

100 degrees clockwise.

In addition to that, rotate the following triangle with coordinates:

A (+7, -5)
B (+4, -4)
C (+6, -1)

65 degrees counter-clockwise.

The turning point will be coordinate C

I will be checking to see if this has been complete!

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S.

Here's Mr. C's recipe to rotations:

1. Identify coordinates of the shape, label and connect
2. Identify the coordinates of the turning point
3. Use your compass -- spike ("needle") goes on turning point, pencil goes on coordinates
4. Are you moving clockwise (right) or counterclockwise (left)?
5. Create a path ("track") for your rotation. Repeat steps 3-5 for every coordinate
6. Take your protractor -- align centre with turning point and 0 degrees with coordinate
7. Find the degrees you're looking for and rotate the shape. Make sure your new coordinates follow the "track"
8. Connect and label your shape

April 17

I would just like to take the time to wish you all a restful long weekend! We'll see you on Tuesday!

-Mr. C

P.S. Don't forget to finish your shape rotation!

April 16

Great work today, 7A. I'm looking forward to reading those Harris Burdick stories that your groups created.

For math tonight, I have a simple task for you: using a compass and a protractor, I'd like you to rotate the polygon with the following coordinates:

A (+5, -2) B (+8, -3) C (+9, -5) and D (+4, -5)

Your turning point is on the letter "D" and I'd like you to rotate your shape 180 degrees counter-clockwise.

I will collect these tomorrow for feedback!

-Mr. Charalambous

April 15

Go into our Drop Box account and under "Language," you'll find a folder called "Harris Burdick."

In that folder there are 7 drawings to choose from. Select one that interests you and simply create an interesting title that best represents that picture. Be creative -- create the story in your head and just make up a title to go with it.

In math, try out the "Battle of Acadia" at home with a friend or a sibling. You can create the cards to go with the game.

-Mr. C

P.S. If you have compasses and protractors, please bring them in for math tomorrow.

And don't forget, your videos for geography are also due!

April 14

Tomorrow your Most Wanted Poster is due. Please don't forget the criteria (DB) and have fun with it!

Speaking of which, connect with your groups to discuss what materials you'll be bringing in tomorrow for the diorama.

-Mr. Charalambous

April 10

Hi 7s,

I've been under the weather the past couple of days and I won't be at school tomorrow. But I'm confident you know what to do:
  • Direct textual evidence
  • Three character traits each supported by three pieces of evidence
  • Explain your quote
  • Connect it with your schema
Enjoy your weekend!

-Mr. C

P.S. In case you forgot for geography, for your write up, explain your event. What are the causes of the disaster? What are the consequences on the environment and the world around us? What can we do to prevent these disasters from happening?

April 8

I will be collecting your reflection work sheets tomorrow so if for some reason you haven't finished it, make sure it's done.

The due date for your GEO assignment is fast approaching. We'll be viewing them this Friday. Please make sure you're ready.

-Mr. Charalambous

April 7

Please make sure that you've completed your character profile of Rainsford. Have it uploaded to your VT account for feedback by tonight. Remember what we've been discussing in class about supporting your inferences.

In math, create a simple pattern across all four quadrants using only "reflections" as we discussed today.

A reminder that your GEO assignment is due on Friday

-Mr. C

April 4

I checked on DB and the geography assignment was deleted. I'll have to re-upload my copy off my USB key when I go home but here's a reminder of the criteria and assignment:

  • apply the perspective of one or more themes of geographic inquiry to produce a report (interaction)
  • locate relevant information using a variety of primary and secondary sources
  • identify conventions and techniques appropriate to the form chosen for a media text they plan to create, and explain how they will use the conventions and techniques to help communication
You must...
  • have to describe the phenomenon
    • it's causes
    • it's impact
    • it's devastating effect on people and how they respond to these catastrophes
  • they need to create an engaging report that uses the appropriate media forms for a newscast (anchorman, expert (e.g., meteorologist), witnesses, on-site reporter that is appropriate for their audience (adult viewers)
  • they need to individually write up a paragraph that sums up what they've learned about their event and its causes & consequences
  • draft a script
 -Mr. C

April 3

For math homework tonight you're creating a simple pattern based on translations. Your goal is to have your pattern cover all four quadrants of the Cartesian Plane.

Keep in mind -- how to we accurately record movements?

Your geography assignment is coming due next Friday. Please ensure that you're coordinating with your peers to have it completed on time. Keep an eye out on DB for anything that may be missing.

-Mr. C

April 1

If you haven't finished your Cartesian plane puzzle, you can have a parent or sibling complete it with you for homework tonight. Please don't forget that you need to be coordinating with your group for your environmental news report in geography. The due date is a mere two weeks from now.

I'm also excited to say that 7A will be getting a new addition to our class -- a pet! Well, a class pet to be exact.

It's a "tamandua." We're really fortunate to have this addition as my friend didn't feel he could take care of it anymore. We'll discuss the naming of it tomorrow but we'll have to start figuring out who will be in charge of it during lunch to make sure it's being fed (and more importantly, where we'll be keeping it).

I was thinking of naming it "Seveneh." Thoughts?

March 31

For math tonight, please play the game, "Fur Trade Wars" with a family member or a friend. It's very important that we use the appropriate vocabulary when playing (e.g., ordered pairs, quadrants, Cartesian plane...).

-Mr. Charalambous

March 27

Math: Look around you. Tell me where we can find coordinate planes in our day to day lives.

Considering that a number of assignments were just handed in, apart from the math question, there is no homework for tonight.

-Mr. C

March 21

Alert: I'm not sure what I did, but I somehow managed to delete all the homework that's ever been posted on the blog (including today's post) from today 'till November.

For this weekend, finish your math assignment. Considering that I will be away Monday and Tuesday, it'll now be due Wednesday along with your language assignment.

On the homepage of the blog, Mrs. Norris and I have developed the rubric from the criteria you created for the photo essay. Please ensure that you're following that. Check out our DB page for more information. Don't forget that you'll need to explain your photos on either a write up or through VT.

Lastly, we're having a small geography test on Wednesday -- look at the review sheet I gave you (also on DB) and keep in mind that you will need to know how to identify longitude and latitude locations.

-Mr. C

November 1

Alright so for math this weekend I'd like you to try out this question:

October 30

Fantastic work today, everyone! Tomorrow we'll be starting a new unit in language that I'm excited to introduce.

Your letter to Liza is due on Monday. Please spend some time this weekend listening to my feedback and engaging in some reflecting self-editing.

In history the table on the different types of employment for women is due on Friday. We need that to be completed in order for us to move ahead in this assignment. Remember you can access it on Drop Box in our history folder under "primary sources."

In math we've officially ended with Number Sense and we'll be moving on to measurement tomorrow.

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. Don't forget that I need those glasses tomorrow!

October 29

Tonight make sure you post your rough draft to VoiceThread. Please do that ASAP so that I can respond to your post immediately.

You need to have posted before Literacy tomorrow!

-Mr. Charalambous

October 28

Thanks for the great work today and for our volunteers who shared their writing. Lucky you -- no homework today!

-Mr. C

P.S. Except for Art!

October 25

Great work on the Integer test today, everyone! And also thank you for handing in those organizers to me. I'll try to have those marked as quickly as possible for you.

For homework this weekend, make sure that you've completed your rough draft of your letter to Liza. We'll need them on Monday in order to move forward with our assignment. Keep an eye out for the criteria we've developed in class -- that we'll be posted online for you to access.

Enjoy your weekend!

-Mr. Charalambous

October 24

Language: Since we decided that it probably makes the most sense to write in a letter format, it's time that we take what we've prepared and put it to writing.

Tomorrow we'll continue drafting our letters. Use your thinking books for your first drafts!

Math: Integer test tomorrow!

-Mr. C

P.S. Don't forget your organizers are due as well!

October 23

Complete the math homework in your work books. Reminder that our Integer test will be this Friday.

Also make sure you check our the website we looked at today called Mystery Quests -- you can find it at the following address:

http://www.mysteryquests.ca/quests/18/indexen.html

Familiarize yourself with it as we will be using this website in depth over the next couple of weeks!

-Mr. C

October 22

So I want you to start thinking about how you'll organize your ideas for your writing task. Remember to keep in mind our criteria -- is it accessible (colour, underlining), is there a logical flow, headings, titles and subtitles, so on and so forth.

A reminder about the conversation I had with my cousin, "Liza": she basically said that technology is a distraction in schools and that it takes away from "real learning." She said we "learn less."

Do you agree or not? Why? Use your notes from your thinking books to help you organize your response to Liza!

-Mr. C

October 19

Tonight add one more entry to your thinking books on the "5 ways." We'll need all that research for our writing task tomorrow.

-Mr. Charalambous

October 18

Great work today everyone! I definitely want to keep your weekend homework to a minimum considering that your wrote two quizzes today so the only thing I'm going to have you do is post a snapshot of your thinking book on the article, "Teacher's don't see much harm in...etc". You can find it on VoiceThread.

To summarize, I need to see two postings from you. One posting on either "Pen vs. Paper" or "The Effects of Social Media" and the other on "Teacher's don't see much harm."

Keep an eye out for feedback!

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. Please remember to review the Feedback that I gave you on VoiceThread! Apply it to your next entry!!

October 17

Tomorrow you have two things to prepare for:

Your integer math quiz is first thing in the morning. Practice in your workbook pages 192-193 #1-5 and 194-195 #1-5.

Also we're having our history "quest" tomorrow. Review anything that you forgot about from our Drop Box account. The things you need to study for are below.

Best of luck!

-Mr. C

P.S. If you haven't posted a pic of your thinking book to your VT account, make sure you do that tonight! I've already given feedback to some of you but I'm waiting for the rest to be posted!

October 16

So this coming Friday we'll be having our "quest" in class based on what we've been discussing up to today. You'll have to have an understanding of

  • the Jesuits
  • Habitants
  • Fille du Roi
  • Seigneurs
  • Cartier
  • Champlain
  • Acadians
  • Fur Traders
  • Huron
Remember to access my Drop Box account for any other handouts that you may have missed or information that you want to review.

Also for homework to tonight make sure you read either "Pen and paper vs computer" or "The effects of social media." Add an entry to your thinking books and post to VoiceThread for me to give you feedback!
Best of luck!

-Mr. Charalambous

October 15

You've received your language assignment and your math assignment today. Please share with your parents and have it signed and returned for tomorrow.

For math, complete the work sheet on subtracting integers that you received today.

In language, you're responsible for entering your first "thinking log" in your thinking books. I've given you a short article to read (there's not much to say in it) but it is an opportunity for you to decide what style of graphic organizer suits you. Practice with it tonight and see what you think. Make sure you have it completed!

-Mr. Charalambous

October 10

For math tonight (and for the weekend) I want you to try out these subtraction questions. I want to encourage you to share your method with your parents/guardians or a sibling -- whether you're using integer tiles or a number line. Talking about math helps you understand it better!

1. (-4) - (+8)

2. (+7) - (+10)

3. (-7) - (-8)

4. (+6) - (-5)

5. (+4) - (-8)

6. (-7) - (-10)

7. (+7) - (+8)

8. (-7) - (+5)

Remember to show your work! Enjoy your long weekend!

-Mr. Charalambous

October 9

Math: complete questions 1-7 on the sheet that was distributed today in class. Note: please have your Data Management Tests signed and returned to me by tomorrow!

Don't forget that it is picture day tomorrow! Look your best!

-Mr. C

October 8

Considering that a few of us were absent today due to cross country, I thought I'd take the opportunity to explain some of what we did in class.

Below you can see some of the ideas that came out from discussing Graeme Paton's article, "Is letter writing 'dying out' among children?" You can revisit this reading on our Drop Box account in the language folder under "articles."

For homework tonight, after having read the article, I want you to go onto VoiceThread and share your thoughts on the following question:

"Just what exactly is writing? What does it mean to write? Do you agree with Paton? Is the art of writing dying? (don't focus just on letter writing).

Be prepared to share your thoughts on this tomorrow in class.

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. Don't forget that your homework in history is due tomorrow as well. Questions 1-3 on both sheets. We'll be taking those up tomorrow as well.

October 7

Thanks for handing in your assignments! For math tonight I only want you to share with your parents or guardians what you learned about integer tiles and the "zero" principle.
 -
Mr. C

October 4

If you haven't handed in your language assignment yet, remember -- it's due on Monday! (along with your math assignment!)

This weekend, I'd also like you to do the following in your math book for integers. I know you have assignments to wrap up it's short and to the point! Use a positive or negative number to represent each situation:

- Eight degrees above zero
- Ten degrees below zero
- Parking three levels below ground level
- Two points ahead in a soccer game
- A loss of sixteen dollars
- Taking four steps backwards

Also, the success criteria for the math assignment is up on Drop Box under "Data Management" -- have a look to make sure you hit on all the points!

See you Monday!

-Mr. C

P.S. Don't forget that you have questions 1-3 on the New France government and questions 1-3 on the Seigneurial system as well!

October 3

Just a friendly reminder that your language assignment is due tomorrow. However should you need extra time you may hand it in on Monday. Remember that your artifact can and should be something personal that represents the deeper message. Choose something meaningful.

Don't forget though -- your math assignment is also due on Monday. Don't let these two assignments pile up.

Mr. Charalambous

-P.S. Mr. Wells wants to remind you all to complete those letters!

October 2

Great work today, everyone! Continue researching information for your math assignments and reflect on the books you read. A friendly reminder that the language assignment is due on Friday.

-Mr. C

October 1

It almost always seems to work out this way -- two assignments on the run!

Math:
Tonight's homework is pretty simple: have your research question ready for tomorrow. You might want to do some preliminary research so you can have something to work with. Tomorrow we'll work on researching for our information.

Language:
You've received your assignment for language. Think about an artifact that represents the message that you've identified and decide on how you're going to present this information to me.

-Mr. Charalambous

September 30

So everyone should have received feedback once more on the work from the weekend. The last were posted today on VoiceThread (of course, that depends on whether you posted your responses!)

Some common issues were that many of you were forgetting to look at the success criteria that we developed as a class for this assignment. Please make sure that you're revisiting the criteria for tomorrow's upcoming assignment.

For tonight, I want you to access Drop Box and have a look at any of these three books: "The Heart and the Bottle," "Michael Rosen's Sad Book" and "Night and the Candlemaker." Familiarize yourself with them, leaf through the pages and see which of the three interest you. The assignment will be introduced tomorrow and I'll post it on our blog as well!

-Mr. C

P.S. Great work on the math test today! I had a brief look at them and they were looking good!

September 27

Remember to study for the math test on Monday -- review the sheets that I put up onto Drop Box. And please upload your work on the books on VoiceThread. I'll try to give you all feedback by Monday.

Have a great weekend!

-Mr. Charalambous

P.S. You can use the graphic organizers if they help you!

September 26

The math test has been postponed because of the Terry Fox Run -- until Monday. We're knee deep in DRA so we'll be introducing our language assignment likely on Monday as well.

Have a look on the home page for the success criteria we developed and think about it as you read the book that you chose off Drop Box today. I'll be giving you more feedback this weekend!

-Mr. Charalambous

September 25

Study! Complete the Data Management Review sheet for tomorrow. You all came up with some fantastic artifacts. Well done!

-Mr. Charalambous

September 24

Get those quizzes signed! And prepare for your artifact presentations tomorrow (check out the home page for more details).

-C

September 20

Over the weekend, I want you to complete Part C on the handout that I gave you and work through questions 1 - 5 on pages 111-113 in your math workbook.

In language, we've generated success criteria for this unit -- touch base with your group members and consider just how you are going to select an artifact to match your book along with the supporting evidence.

Enjoy your weekend!

-Mr. Charalambous

September 19

Math:

The following test marks were collected:

75, 68, 47, 55, 88, 76, 82, 73, 79, 80, 70, 64, 76, 55, 73, 76, 68

Calculate the mean, median and mode. Which measure of Central Tendency is best for that data?

As far as Language goes for tonight, I want you and your groups to start thinking about how you're going to present your information? We've developed the success criteria but now we need think about how your ideas are going to be communicated to your peers.

Lastly, if you've taken a Network Access Form, make sure you bring it in signed ASAP!

-Mr. Charalambous

September 18

Great job on the quiz today, everyone! I'll do my best to have them marked and returned to you by Monday.

For homework tonight revisit the book that you chose off Drop Box. Remember to come prepared with quotes, symbols and even images to share with your partner tomorrow. We're going to discuss how we're going to organize this information for the purposes of an assignment.

-C

September 17

Math:
Tomorrow we're having our first quiz. Try out questions 2-4 on pages 115-116 for practice if you'd like. Remember what we've done so far in Data Management: bias in how we ask questions, manipulation of graphs and scales, inferring from data and circle graphs. This is a midway checkpoint.

Language:
Today we wrapped up reading "Riding the Tiger" and we explored the idea of symbolism in text. Tonight, go onto Drop Box and choose one of the books* to read for tonight (some may have already been preassigned to you). I want you to think about the symbolism in the text and the overall messages.

*Each of these books vary in length and complexity. This is an opportunity for you to choose one that suits your level and demonstrate an understanding of appropriate choice when choosing texts. Now this does not have to be uploaded onto VoiceThread just yet. However, I do want you to start thinking about the messages that you're encountering and symbols you might find.

Finally, remember to relax and just enjoy the evening!

-Mr. Charalambous

September 16

Math:
Wrap up those circle graphs if you haven't already. Remember to organize your work by writing your answers in your math work book. If for any reason you lost the sheet, I've uploaded the work onto Drop Box.

September 13

Math:

1. First things first, I want you to attempt at drawing a circle graph with the information that we gathered from the survey:

1 of you thought there was too much homework
14 of you thought the homework was too much -- but that you get why
3 of you thought that more homework was needed
7 of you thought that the homework amount we had was just fine

Draw the results of the survey in a circle graph. How accurate do you think your circle graph is? Does it represent the survey correctly?

2. Draw three graphs to display the data at the left in each way. Take a picture of your work and post it to VoiceThread.

a) The Student Council want the expenses to look low

b) The Parent Council want to show the expenses are too high
c) Draw an accurate representation of the data. For each graph you draw, explain how it shows what you intended.

Month Amount ($)
September 85.00
November 104.00
January 125.00
March 155.00

Language: Keep an eye out for feedback on Frog Belly Rat Bone. I've already provided some of you feedback yesterday and I'll get through the rest over the weekend. There are some change of plans with regards to "The Tower." Read the book that I posted on Drop Box and we'll discuss it on Monday instead. I'll be uploading different reading options for you to look at over the next couple of days so keep your eye out for it.

History: Complete the two questions from today's handout.

Phew! Alright -- well that seems to be it. All in all it's not that much work but it sure looks that way! Have a great weekend, 7A.

Language: On DropBox I've uploaded a copy of The Tower for you to read at your own leisure. Like we practiced today, I want you to try and identify a deeper meaning in the text by supporting your ideas with evidence. Use the graphic organizers to help you organize your thoughts first before recording your voice on VoiceThread. This is due by Monday. You can find graphic organizers in the language section of our DropBox account if necessary.

Math: questions 1-3 on the misleading graphs. There's a copy up on DropBox.

So we have a number of things on the run over the next couple of days:

History: finish the two questions on the handout that I gave you. We'll be taking them up in our next class on Friday

Math: There were two questions left on the Titanic and the statistics with the survivors. Answer questions 4-5.

Language: You're working on Voice Thread tonight. Download an image of the book "Frog Belly Rat Bone" and upload it to your account where you're going to tell me, Mr. C., what you thought the author's message was in the story. Remember support your information with evidence.

I left some graphic organizers for you to use to help you pull your thoughts together. If you forgot to take one today, don't forget I've uploaded it on our DropBox account mrc7a@mgps.ca so you can download them from there.

Math:

Read each survey question. Decide whether it contains bias. If there is bias, explain how it could be removed.

What about this?

For homework tonight you'll need to log on to VoiceThread and comment on your profile picture -- how and why does the picture you chose represent you? This might sound strange now but by the end of one of our language units, you may be surprised as to how your "identity" may change.

Also, there may be a homework check tomorrow for the math question so this is an opportunity for you to make sure you completed that question.

Finally! The weekend is here :)

We do have a few things to work on over the weekend though but it shouldn't be too hard.

In your math notebook write a journal response to the following:

We live in the Information Age. An informed citizen needs to be able to collect, organize, display, interpret information and identify bias. How can our study of data management help you become an informed decision maker?

In language, make sure that your profile's are up and shared with me on VoiceThread. And finally, complete your jigsaw puzzle piece for Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Hey all -- remember to complete the "what's in a name" assignment for homework tonight and start thinking about a profile picture that best represents who you are for VoiceThread.

For homework tonight all you need to finish is your "what math tastes like" assignment. Due tomorrow -- don't forget!
